Dear Williams Families,

I hope you rested and enjoyed the weather and beautiful outdoors this summer. As we near the end of August, we’d like to welcome you to the 2024-25 school year at Fred L. Williams Elementary School. We have been busy preparing our school for the arrival of our students in order to set them up for a successful new school year. Our community deserves great things! As such, our Wildcats will receive engaging and high-quality instruction with updated curriculum and new progress monitoring tools, 1:1 student electronic devices, enrichment opportunities as well as as an expanded visual and performing arts program. School safety will continue being a top priority. We're proud to welcome back School Resource Officer Alaniz as he supports us in this important endeavor.

The Williams office team is ready to assist our community with school and registration questions. They'll be offering assistance Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:00 PM.  Our students deserves great things! Don't forget that an exciting first day has been planned for our Wildcats on WEDNESDAY, 08/21/24. For the first time ever, it will ALSO be our first Early Dismissal Wednesday of the year. The launch of the school year will begin with a FREE Backpack Giveaway Event on the first day of school. You heard right...you WILL NOT have to buy your child a backpack this year since they'll all receive a FREE backpack, school supplies and a water bottle compliments of our Kindness is Free partners. To make the first day EXTRA special, students will be treated to a yummy treat from Mister Softee, a DJ will play lunchtime music and a craft table will be available so kids may personalize their new backpacks with their names and fun patches. The Early Dismissal Wednesday schedule will be as follows:

• Grades TK-K: 8:00-12:00 PM

• Grades 1-3: 8:00-12:35 PM

• Grades 4-5: 8:00-12:45 PM

First day of school packets, teacher assignments and classroom numbers will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, 08/15/24 from 10:00-2:00 PM AND Friday, 08/16/24 from 12:00-4:00 PM. After picking up your packet, please fill out the first day of school paperwork and return the completed forms to your child's teacher on the first day of school.

I appreciate the support of our amazing Williams team and everything they prepared to start the year. We will continue to align assemblies, conferences and our behavior support plan to our school motto: Our Wildcats are respectful, kind and responsible. Let's continue looking out for each other to help us stay safe, healthy and maintain a positive learning environment.
